Campus Costume Judging - Oct. 31 @ noon - Lakeside Grill
The UAS-JC Student Government has decided to have a department decorating contest again this year! Student government and other students will walk around on October 30th at 12:00pm and vote for their favorite department. Votes will be tallied either in person at the SGUAS-JC office or online via google form. The winning department will get their name on the department decorating plaque, get to display the golden pumpkin award all year, and have ultimate bragging rights over other departments. Big Changes to the Scholarship Process!
UAS students, we have made changes to the scholarship process!
UAS and the UA Foundation are launching a new scholarship platform called AWARDED to simplify things—no more long applications!
What you need to do:
1. Visit AWARDED in October to log in, consent, and complete a voluntary profile and one optional essay to qualify for even more scholarships.
2. Watch this quick video to learn more about the platform: Watch Video
3. Check your AWARDED dashboard and your email regularly so you don’t miss out!
Once the profile is complete, notifications will be sent when additional information is needed (i.e you have been matched to a scholarship but need supplemental materials to determine eligibility). Notifications are also sent out when awards are offered.
How it works:
You’ll be automatically matched with scholarships based on your admissions info
Committees will handle the rest—no need to apply separately.
If you have questions, reach out to Barbara Townsend, Scholarship Coordinator, at bjtownsend@alaska.edu or the UAS Financial Aid Office at uas.finaid@alaska.edu.

Paintings & Poems Exploring the Dog Culture of Juneau & Douglas
Juneau-Douglas City Museum, 4:30 - 7:00
Artist Elise Tomlinson and Poet Emily Wall collaborated to create original paintings and poems that explore our relationship to our dogs and to Juneau/Douglas dog culture. Both artist and writer live in Douglas, both recently adopted rescue dogs, and both are exploring in their art how dogs have shaped the perception of their community in fresh ways. The work explores how dogs have created a sense of joy and safety for women who walk them, and how they have connected us to this rich and diverse community of dog people with a special focus on Sandy Beach and historic Treadwell trails.
