Attend the programming topics that resonate with you and match your interests! Drop in and out of different demos and info booths during their listed availability.
Open House Itinerary~
Check in any time between 11 AM and 2 PM at the Egan Library (upper level entrance, by Spike’s Cafe). You will receive a detailed programming sheet with booth/demo locations and a map!
**Please check in before exploring campus, demos may not be occurring in the departments’ typical buildings**
Admissions Info Session- 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Chat with our admissions team and let them help you apply for a degree or just take a class. Come with any and all questions about UAS, college admissions, or how to take the next step in your college journey.
Scholarship Fair- 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Discover ways to make college more affordable! Explore local scholarship opportunities, meet with our Financial Aid team, and get answers to your questions about FAFSA, the Alaska Performance Scholarship, and more!

Explore national and international study away opportunities available to UAS students at 160+ universities and in 60+ countries. Students can earn UAS credit while spending a semester or year away, and programs are financially aid eligible!
Tidal Echoes, English & Creative Writing Booth- 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Learn more about our literary and art journal that showcases the art and writing of Southeast Alaskans. Ask current students questions about English & Creative Writing at UAS.

See Northwest Coast Arts in action with Tlingit Master Carver and Professor of NW Coast Arts Wayne Price. Wayne and others will be working on totem and dugout pieces.
Ceramics- 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Pop into UAS’ ceramics studio and see students working on their pieces. With both wheel throwing and handbuilding classes, ceramics is one of the most popular classes for community members.

Stop by and see the Natural Dye class with our Northwest Coast Arts faculty and students! You are also able to see the Chilkat robe that is being weaved on campus with student assistance.

Stop by for a cozy fall gathering. Meet our faculty and staff to build community and connections through an interactive art display about your favorite teacher or school memory. Tree Ring & Tree Growth Demo- 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Have fun with a hands-on exploration of tree growth and learn about the tools of forest ecology with Assistant Professor, Logan Berner. Chat with Dr. Berner about our environmental science programs as well as his experience as a UAS student turned scientist.
Alaska Coastal Rainforest Center Booth- 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Talk to faculty and researchers from the ACRC, UAS’ research center focusing on the north Pacific coastal temperate rainforest. Learn all about water with hands-on sampling, filtering, and measuring techniques used by environmental scientists.
Marine Biology Demos- 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Demos will occur at 1:00, 1:20, and 1:40 PM
Intertidal critter touch tanks, Squid dissection, Flatfish ecology, Auke Creek Salmon Weir visits
Explore the Dorms!- 12:00 - 3:00 PM
Learn about residential life at UAS and tour our first-year dormitory. Chat with student Resident Assistants and Residential Life staff about what it’s like to live on campus.
UAS Swag and Tuition Waiver Raffle - winners will be announced at 2:45 PM
Spike’s Cafe and Lakeside Grill will be open for purchasing coffee, light lunch, and snacks!
