Come and start off Juneau Folk Festival's 50th Year at the UAS Recreation Center on April 5th. Feel free to bring a folding chair and a blanket to enjoy all the beautiful music and community at this indoor "outdoor" festival. This event is open to the community, for all ages and FREE. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Personal beverages and food will not be allowed, but UAS Clubs and Organizations will have tables with food, so be sure to bring cash.
00PM: The evening will start with a folk/swing dance lesson led by Prof. Mark Hopson. It's a great way to get a lesson in before a whole week of jumping tunes around town.
00PM: The very popular Hot Club of Juneau will be the first band and is a string jazz quartet playing music inspired by Romani jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephan Grappilli's band Quintette du Hot Club de France. Their fun, upbeat dance music is sure to put the lesson to good use!
00PM: Slept In is an amazing acoustic guitar duo and our first UAS student/alumni act for the night! Come support and enjoy!
30PM: June Bunch is a solo, acoustic folk artist who will make you dance and make you cry before the night is out.
30PM: Rice Field is the second UAS student act and will show you what their made of (which is great vibes and awesome tunes).
00PM: Every good dog goes to heaven and you'll be in heaven when you see The Rain Dogs shred the night away.
00PM: Our closing act will be a three part sister group from the East Coast known as Big Sissy. Their original and alternative music is sure to touch your heart.
