WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME
By Heidi Schreck
Directed by Leslie Ishii
Anax Yaa Andagan Yé / Juneau: September 12 to 28, 2025
Heidi Schreck was not a typical teenager. Growing up, she spent her free time traveling across the United States and entering constitutional debate competitions to earn college tuition money. Yes, the Constitution. As in the Constitution of the United States. Now, as an adult, Heidi takes a closer look at the document that defined so much of her coming-of-age. This award-winning play offers a profoundly personal look at our nation’s most debated document and how it could evolve to fit our modern times. Hilarious and hopeful, this play resurrects Heidi’s teenage self and connects four generations of women to the founding document that shaped their lives.
